#39 Make your health a priority. People will spend hours obsessing over “Dancing With the Stars” results every week, but can’t be bothered to get an annual physical or have a professional investigate a 2-week old cough. I’m sorry, but what exactly is more important than not being dead?
40 years ago today, I was born. And I knew EVERYTHING. Or at least I thought I did. But, it turns out, there were many more lessons I learned on the way to becoming the man I am today. Like everyone else, I had (have?) insecurities and flaws. But, I thought I’d share some things I know now that I wish I’d known then. Maybe someone will read this list, and relate to something I say, and realize they aren’t crazy for thinking the same thing. (Or maybe we’re both crazy?) Perhaps someone might be inspired to take action to better their life or the lives of others (including mine!). Possibly someone might be reassured that they are doing okay as long as they are doing their best and trying to be a good person. Or maybe someone will think I’m a pompous ass for writing this list (Agree to disagree. See No. 14). Bottom line…that’s four people reading my blog! Woo Hoo!
I’ll be posting one or two things a day over the next few weeks, counting down in some rough order of importance. So, keep checking back or read the whole list at the end.
These days, I feel comfortable(-ish) being me . And it only took 40 years! On my birthday, I wish for everyone to be able to say the same, and to take less time to get there.
Let’s start the countdown…
